IT’S TIME TO GO ‘BACK TO SCHOOL’ AT AUGUST FIRST FRIDAY

News

Bentonville, AR - On August 4th, the monthly Bentonville block party is back, as Downtown Bentonville Inc. goes ‘Back to School’ for First Friday Fueled by Zoa Energy Drinks.

August’s First Friday will be focused on summer coming to an end, and the return of classes around our area.  Hostess Brands is taking over First Friday with its iconic donettes.  Starting at 5:45 pm on the mainstage, Hostess is hosting a donettes eating contest with a $250 Walmart gift card up for grabs.

The music for ‘Back to School’ will begin with a special musical performance from the local cast of MATILDA JR. (produced by Perry Ryan Theater and The Story Room NWA) at 3:45 pm.  At 4 pm the Bentonville Jazz Band hits the stage, and the Bentonville High School Orchestra Program takes over at 5 pm. School of Rock takes the stage at 6:05 pm, followed by Gavin Sumrall, and then the Handshake Saints at 7:30 pm.

First Friday ‘Lunch Break’ continues this month, allowing folks to enjoy the food trucks around the square a little early.  Our local food trucks will start serving lunch at 11 am.

Yoga on the Square is BACK in August.  Starting at Noon, Yoga Story NWA will be hosting a complimentary yoga class.

As always parking is difficult, so DBI encourages everyone to arrive early. The full First Friday event begins at 3 pm.

DBI and Northwest Medical Center - Bentonville are offering a free shuttle service for attendees with mobility issues.  Guests utilizing the shuttle are encouraged to park at the FBC West parking lot, located at 2nd Street and B Street.  Signage will show drivers where to park.  A 16-passenger ADA shuttle will pick up and drop off drivers and their passengers at a safe location within the event’s footprint.  The service runs from 4 pm to 8 pm.

Downtown Bentonville Inc. and our partners Trailblazers, People for Bikes NWA, Runway Group, and Visit Bentonville encourage our community to ride to First Friday!  A Downtown Bentonville Park and Ride map has been created to aid in visiting downtown Bentonville without a car. Use any set of wheels (or even just one) and follow a suggested route available at the link below:
