Bentonville Farmers Market Adopts POP! Club Children’s Program to Promote Healthy Food Choices

News

The Bentonville Farmers Market announces its participation in the national POP! Club program. The program incentives children to shop at local Farmers Markets by giving them $2 coupons to spend on fruits and vegetables. The Bentonville Farmers Market is produced and executed by the non-profit Downtown Bentonville Incorporated.

According to the Farmers Market Coalition POP! Club guidebook, "The Power of Produce (POP) Club is a farmers market-based children's program that seeks to teach children about fruits and vegetables, local food systems, and healthy food preparation through fun activities. Participants engage in the full farmers market experience by trying new foods, having conversations with farmers, and buying local produce."

"We have been aiming to bring more educational experiences to the Bentonville Farmers Market for a long time," says Bentonville Farmers Market Manager Stephanie Marpe. "The goal is empowerment. We want to empower kids to make healthy choices and learn more about local food's importance. Giving kids $2 coupons provides them the purchasing power to explore new foods and have conversations with farmers."

Paired with $2 coupons to “spend” at the market, children can participate in crafts, interactive games, and more. The POP! Club program will be available at no cost for all kids (kindergarten through 5th grade) on these upcoming dates:
